Our Story
Vampire Penguin was born from a simple rebellion: why should good coffee and great cocktails live separate lives? We opened our doors on 2nd Street with one rule — serve people who take their drinks seriously, whether that's a single-origin pour-over at 7 AM or an old fashioned at 11 PM.
Our space is equal parts industrial warehouse and cozy den. Exposed brick meets velvet booths. The espresso machine hums alongside a back bar stocked with small-batch spirits. It's a place where the morning crowd and the evening crowd nod respectfully as they pass each other in the doorway.
Sacramento deserves a hangout that doesn't apologize for being bold. We're here for the dreamers, the shift workers, the insomniacs, and anyone who believes the best conversations happen after dark.
The Vibe
Vampire Penguin lives in the liminal hours — that magical stretch between afternoon and midnight when Sacramento truly comes alive. Our space is designed for lingering: low lighting, deep seating, and a soundtrack that moves from lo-fi beats at noon to something a little darker by nine.
We host open mic nights, vinyl listening sessions, and the occasional poetry reading. It's a community hub disguised as a café, a neighborhood living room where strangers become regulars and regulars become friends.
